Report Release Announcement: Exploring Policy and Regenerative Design

We are happy to announce the release of our latest report, detailing the findings from the third cohort’s six-month exploration into how policy changes can unlock regenerative design. Our report is now available for download, the findings of which offer a starting point for our next cohort investigating the intersection of policy and regenerative design.

Key Findings from Cohort 3

During the programme we took this third cohort, comprising eighteen participants from policy and built-environment sectors, on a guided inquiry structured around the Three Horizons model. This framework helped participants envision a thriving future, contrast it with the present, and explore transitions needed to bridge the gap. Key findings from this journey include:

Shifting Mindsets: Emphasising the need for broader thinking in policymaking to unlock systems’ potential without having all the answers.

  • Hope and Possibilism: Viewing policy-making as an enabler of hope and regenerative practices.
  • Influencing Government Policy: Strategies to capture and amplify the pioneering work in regenerative thinking.
  • Holistic Policy-Making: Moving beyond fragmented approaches to recognise interconnected issues and interdisciplinary needs.
  • Shifting Responsibility: Transitioning from ownership to stewardship and shared responsibility for living systems.
  • Community Engagement: Enhancing connections between policymakers and communities and enabling greater community decision-making.
  • Collaboration: Involving diverse and marginalised perspectives in policymaking and ensuring safe participation conditions.
  • Policy Limitations: Shifting focus from purely economic growth to holistic considerations and removing policies reinforcing destructive practices.

Join Cohort 4: Spaces Available for Policy Specialists

Applications for the fourth cohort of the Regenerative Design Lab remain open for policy makers. This cohort will build on the findings of the third, diving deeper into the relationship between policy and regenerative design. We have reserved spaces specifically for policymakers who are curious about regenerative design and how it deliver better policy outcomes. We are taking applications on a rolling basis through July and August for a mid-september start.
